When we moved to Iowa there were SO many little girls McKell's age and the year older in church. Seriously, probably 12 girls. It was so fun that she had all of these girls around, but now they are ALL gone! She is now in a church class with 7 boys.
My first visiting teachers when moving here were Koni and Nancy they both had 2 girls the exact same ages as mine. Shayla also had 2 girls the exact same ages, kinda weird isn't it. It was so much fun to have them around because no one got left out and they all had people to play with them. They have all had another baby now Koni with a little boy, and Nancy and Shayla with little girls which would all be around Nate's age.
Heidi has 2 girls that are just about the same age as McKell and Alyssa and my girls just LOVE to play with them. It was so fun to have them in our babysitting swap because they were SO good. They too have a little sister now that is a little older than Nate.
Allison moved into the ward the same time as we did and I wish we would have been able to hang out more, she is so fun. Her little girl Rachel and McKell just clicked. They never were in the same school or primary class but loved to see each other and play.
So all of these wonderful friends have now moved away. We are so sad about it and next week when McKell starts school she will definitely feel it, there were 4 girls in her Kindergarten class that she knew from church- now all gone.
Poor me, I know quit lamenting. We had a fun little party for everyone before they left. We made this cute little friends book and took some pictures. The girls decorated little purses and we had some after school snacks. Thanks everyone for being such good friends! We miss you!!

It's so sad to say goodbye to friends! You are such a great mom to do fun things and make it easier.I used to be a fun mom, once upon a time. oh, wait...that wasn't me.
I feel your pain, Sista. That was us last year. The down side is that Mckell may be a bit lonely for a while. The up side is that she will be able to reach out of her comfort zone and make new friends. This will help build her confidence that she [can] do hard things. I hope she gets the teacher Ellie had. She was wonderful at encouraging good friendships. Ellie made the best little friends. Good Luck next week.! We'll be thinking of ya. (and let us know how things are goin', too!)
We had such fun! Oh I loved laughing with you and listening to our girls giggle and giggle!
Nicole,
This post made me miss you. I always hate people moving away from me. If I was the one who left, that's OK because you're too busy packing, moving, and unpacking and having nervous breakdowns to be sad for awhile. But being left behind is the worst, because it really disrupts your daily life. That being said, one of my friends from Texas (her husband just started his musculoskeletal (sp?) fellowship there) just moved I swear a block away from you. Her name is Jennifer Watkins and she has a four year old girl and a two year old girl. She's totally sweet. I'll try to remember to email you her info if you feel like making just one more new friend!
Love the pink thing. Don't love that freak storm that wiped out your beloved China. What the wha? Freaky.
love ya,karen
This makes me sad. We miss you guys! Thanks for including us in lots of fun stuff. Courtney bravely went off to school today but I sure wish McKell was in her class to watch out for her. McKell was such a great friend to her and everybody in their class last year.
I love your blog!! That pink party idea is so cute. My poor boys just get a cake and presents. Maybe if I have a girl I will be motivated to do a fun party!
Cute party! I love the little books you made!
Nicole--
:( If it makes you feel any better, we're lonely too! :) We miss you, your family, and all our Iowa friends so much! Emma is so sad that she's not going to her "Iowa school" and she STILL has dreams of going to her new school with her Iowa friends there. WE LOVE YOU GUYS!! ...and I'm so grateful for your friendship! We LOVE her friendship book! Thanks for showing us how to put on the most FAB parties! We had so much fun! Also, I got my scrapbook pages. THANK YOU! I LOVE THEM! (and I'll remember to put the $ in the mail tomorrow). Good luck to McKell next week.

What an adorable scrapbook! You are so creative! I have had a hard time being the one who has moved away! It's hard to have friends move and to be the one that moves away from friends! But I have not had to deal with my children's friends moving away and that would be so hard. I hope they make new friends in school and things start to get easier! Thank goodness for the blogging world so you can still keep in touch right??
