1st Grade!!

We are 2 for 2 here at the Brenchley's. That is 2 out of 2 years McKell has been SO excited to go to school. She never complained once about going to school last year and I hope the excitement this morning was a foreshadowing of the entire year this year. I have been a little nervous about her waking up this morning because of our sleeping-in schedule this summer and we never did do a trial run last week, but she woke up before the alarm sounded and was super excited to go. She loved that she was so sparkly, her shorts and shirt and shoes all sparkled! Wow!!

She came home and said she had a great day. She met a friend in her class that she doesn't know her name and she did math with a different friend (Kaitlyn) and her desk even opens! Her teacher sent home a red plate for her to eat dinner on cause she is special and we will be notified by her teacher when she is extra good at school so she can use her red plate for dinner. I think we need to invest in a real red plate so we don't have to keep this red plastic plate around all year long!

Alyssa was happy she got to play with McKell's toys all day but kept saying "So should we go pick up McKell now?" She will be excited when she starts preschool in a couple of weeks.

The beginning of the school year is so fun. I love shopping for school supplies, picking out the perfect outfit for the first day, and that Phil makes a big deal about giving a father's blessing for the new school year.

How cute does she look?! The first day of school was so fun for me too for some reason. I have this strange love to shop for school supplies. I love getting new pens and pencils and whatever I can get my hands on. So glad that she loves to go to school. Hopefully it will stay like that!

McKell, you look so grown-up and very pretty. Glad your first day was good and we are glad that you love school! I remember the excitment of getting the boys and Michelle off on the first day. It brought a tear to my eyes - of course, I'm very emotional these days for some strange reason.

Yeah McKell! I'm so glad she was able to roll her old bones out of bed and make it to school! The red plate is a great idea. Very fun! Congrats on starting 1st grade! You'll do great McKell!

WOW! McKell looks so big! I can't believe that she started 1st grade! I knew her when she was just a baby. Sniff sniff... No really that is so exciting. I'm glad she was so excited and knowing McKell I'm sure the excitement will continue through college.

She looks so cute. It is wonderful she loves school! Kids here are not allowed flip flops or sandals. Sad I know. I love school shopping too! That pretty much is the only time I like to shop.

OH - this reminds me - our school starts next Monday. I'm not sure I'll be able to get up! But what a "responsible" girl McKell is to wake up and get going all on her OWN!! I showed Haylee this post about McKell and she said, "No Fair!" (about starting school already) and then she saw McKell's photo on your sidebar and she said, "What? She's a ballerina, too?!? Double NOT fair!" I guess I better view your blog privately from now on or she might suffer from the "No Fair Syndrome." :) I asked Haylee if she knew what she was going to wear on the first day of school and she said, "Yep! My new swimming suit!" Ummm, let me think about that -NO! Flip flops are taboo at our school, so I think she'd be in danger of being expelled if she went for her choice!

She looks so grown up to me, I guess it's been a while since we've seen you guys. Definitely a very cute and stylish first grader!
